About
the Artist
"People have
watched me weaving my pieces and commented on how precise and time
consuming
it looks. My works are a labor of love; I put myself into my jewelry."
Susie's Resume
Susie
Andregg was born in Ecuador and grew up overseas for much of her life.
While in different countries she was exposed to and influenced by
various arts and culture. During her senior year of high school she was
introduced to the art of jewelry making which lead her to study for her
BFA in metalsmithing and jewelry at the University of Kansas. After college
she pursued several different careers: restaurant cook, pastry
chef, apprentice jeweler and fitness instructor. Susie was always drawn
back to her one true love of working with metal.
Over the past 10 years she has combined
her skills as a jeweler and her unique experiences to create original
and timeless jewelry. Susie's trademark
is her hand woven bracelets and necklaces crafted from fine gold and silver
wire. She uses old world techniques and applies a modern twist; keeping
her pieces both updated and classic. Her highly finished jewelry shows
her great attention to detail and desire to make it lightweight and comfortable. "I
handcraft my jewelry to look beautiful, feel ethereal, and be worn comfortably
everyday. I want people to wear my jewelry and forget that they have it
on."
Susie has clients comfortably wearing her jewelry
worldwide: including North Carolina, New Mexico, Kansas City, Puerto
Rico and Australia. She has been working as SLA Metals from her private
studio in Durham, NC and is now settling down in Burlington, VT with
her husband and dog. Feel free to contact Susie with any questions you
may have regarding prices or commission work.
